Chef/proprietor Andy Broder, is an Arizona native who attended the Scottsdale Culinary Institute after practicing law in Phoenix for 12 years. He graduated from culinary school with honors and did his externship at the Los Angeles Times, working on the Food Section - developing and testing recipes, writing about food and food styling. He has been a cooking instructor in the Phoenix metropolitan area since 1999. He is a member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals. AndyFood is more than a teaching kitchen; it is a culinary studio where, since 2003, Andy blends all of his interests in the culinary arts - and shares them with you!

OPTIONAL TASTINGS (Available only as an add-on to your regular party menue)

Salt tasting. Andy has dozens of salts, and conducts a unique tasting using dark chocolate as the medium. He has spoken about salt to culinary professionals and on the radio. $12 per person.

Cheese course. Andy will conduct a unique tasting. Your eaters will enjoy a discussion of the theme of the tasting (why andy chooses to include each cheese in the selection du jour, why he chooses to taste them in a particular order, and why he chooses to pair some of the cheeses with particular tasting companions).
$12 per person.

Chocolate tasting. Your clients will be treated to a blind tasting of 10 to 12 chocolates. After rating the chocolates (based on color, taste, texture and flavor) they will learn the identity of each. The tasting includes a discussion of the history of chocolate and chocolate making. For clients who choose a chocolate tasting the chef suggests substituting fresh fruit for the dessert that normally accompanies their meal. There is no charge for this substitution. $15 per person.

Lots of little dishes, each as good as the last, and there’s always room for one more taste. Tapas are the perfect grazing food for any party – and with good reason – they’re varied, fresh, and no one can eat just one. ~~ KNIFE SKILLS ~~
It’s always the perfect time to hone your knife skills. Essential for every cook. Learn the essentials of using every cook’s most important tool – the knife. Slice, dice, julienne, mince, and more. We’ll cook at the end of the lesson – A little “Iron Chef” exercise where we turn all the foods you’ve cut into perfect cubes and julienne strips into a couple of entrees and sides for a quick end of class buffet! This class is a great teambuilding exercise.

Pricing is based on a minimum class size of 12 persons. Smaller classes cost the same as a class for 12 persons.

PRICING FOR TEAMBUILDING CLASSES
Teambuilding: Add $5.00 per person to the regular per person class price At AndyFood a teambuilding class is tailored to meet the specific goals of the client (such as building camaraderie, fostering a team ethic among a newly formed group, and/or dealing with problems in a group that is having difficulty getting along. In order to meet these needs, Andy will (and must) communicate with the client in order to define the parameters of the event, and work out the finer details
Iron Chef: At AndyFood there are 2 types of Iron Chef Classes:
1) The group is divided into two, and each group is responsible for half the recipes that will ultimately become part of one meal that all participants share.
ADD $10 PER PERSON FOR THIS IRON CHEF FORMAT

2) The group is divided into two, and each group must create its own recipes with identical sets of ingredients. This format is recommended for groups that already have a good team ethic and no cooperation problems.
ADD $20 PER PERSON FOR THIS IRON CHEF FORMAT.
